According to a report in todays Australian, the budget cuts to childcare will leave a family currently on a combined income of $135,000 a year up to $6000 worse off per child a year by 2017. The bad news comes as, the federal government announced in the budget that it would continue the freeze on the maximum level of Child Care Rebate for the next three years, and had applied a freeze on income thresholds at which families qualify for the Child Care Benefit. Detailed ECA analysis shows that by 2017-18, families will be thousands of dollars more out of pocket for childcare services each year.
