According to state law, elementary or secondary school tuition - TopicsExpress

According to state law, elementary or secondary school tuition expenses paid on or after January 2014 are now eligible for a tax deduction. When filing 2014 tax returns in 2015, taxpayers may claim the amount paid for private and religious school tuition expenses of up to $4,000 for each dependent child in kindergarten through 8th grade, and up to $10,000 for each dependent child in grades 9-12. The deduction only applies to tuition and mandatory student fees. Any person who pays taxes in Wisconsin and pays private school tuition for dependents is eligible to receive the deduction by filing Schedule PS with their Wisconsin tax return (revenue.wi.gov/forms/2014/SchedulePS.pdf). Please note this is a tax deduction and not a credit. Depending on your income and tax bracket, the tax deduction could save you up to 7% of the tuition paid. Please consult your tax advisor for more details. School staff is not allowed to give you tax advice. The information in this memo is for general guidance only and does not consist of legal or tax advice of any kind. Families can print their tuition receipt by going to the Fee Management Section of their Skyward Family Access account. The FVL Federal Identification Number (EIN) is needed to submit your form.
