According to the media it appears that Alex Salmond took a hammering over currency in the TV debate with Alistair Darling but this is not what I observed? So before the final curtain comes down on who was the winner of this debate and who was the loser consider this: An Independent Scotland will (like every other country) at some point have to rely on borrowing from the IMF or other international banking source. Alex Salmond is an economist of reknown and a very shrewd politician, he is perfectly aware and knows the importance of this issue, he also knew that the TV debate was being broadcast worldwide and would be watched by those within the Global Banking System. So what message did these Global Banking CEOs hear from Scotlands First Minister? What they and the rest of the world heard was that: Scotlands first option with regards to what currency they would use post independence would be to: share the pound with rUK! They also heard that Scotland do have other options on what currency they could use but their First Minister was adamant that Scotlands first preference is to share the pound with rUK! Salmond refused to be moved from this position even when under pressure from Darling and members of the audiance. So what the world now know is that: If Westminster execute their (unreasonable) threat and refuse to share the pound with Scotland then it is not because the First Minister of Scotland did not make them a sincere offer. As a consequence of Westminsters refusal of Scotlands sincere offer to share the pound the International Banking Community can not hold Scotland to account for any debt incurred by Westminster. It will also mean that as Scotland was not in default of any loans their (still to be aquired) International Credit Rating will not be affected. As I said earlier, Alex Salmond is a very shrewd politician and economist and I have a sneaky suspicion that Alistair Darling may have played right into his hand. What do you think? Thomas Sanderson for YES!
