According to this report the government have received 500 million dollars in advance payment(presumably with more to come) from the sale of Gezi Park to a unnamed central Asian Republic President. (Turkmenistan is later mentioned in the article). It states that under the original Taksim renewal project the AVM and hotel project was not stated but was added later when RTE came into the equation and took the architects and engineers working on the project by surprise....and the the AVM and Hotel part of the project was kept secret from the public. It states that someone who learned about this then appealed to UNESCO. The reply was that the organisation did not have any jurisdiction on Gezi Park but nevertheless conducted an investigation. Since the Gezi park protests in June the unnamed president wanted his money back but the AKP (RTE) didnt want to give him this money back and has since offered him Paradise Bay (Cennet Koyu) somewhere on the Bodrum peninsular instead...so it turns out this was the real reason for RTEs visit to the Bodrum peninsula recently.....to find an alternative suitable place to offer this guy to invest in and build his hotel. And are we surprised?
