Addendum (to my last status)... my great grandparents, Tony and Rada, immigrated to America from Bulgaria in the 1920s...they, as my grandpa used to say ALL THE TIME (lol), came here with a dime in their pockets and started their own business.... Capital Bakery was located in Haughville on the corner of Holmes and St Clair across from Holy Trinity Catholic Church... they ran a successful business with fresh baked goods (family recipes from Bulgaria) in a coal burning brick oven until Kroger opened on Michigan St. After Kroger opened my great Grandparents business started to go downhill because more people opted for one stop shopping. Baking is in my blood ;) & I can pick up where my great grandparents left off to some degree...but definitely as my own person.
