Adding unfavorable policies into the 1,603-page collective - TopicsExpress

Adding unfavorable policies into the 1,603-page collective appropriations bill at the last minute is not the right way to force its passage. The funding levels are reasonable and were reached through bipartisan collaboration. The random add-ons, what we call ‘policy riders,’ are irresponsible and egregious. I voted no because the people of the 10th Congressional District don’t believe in sneak tactics, especially attempts to buy more elections with a tenfold increase in campaign contribution limits. We can’t keep letting our basic responsibilities as Members of Congress plague our ability to make progress. We have big picture issues that need solutions. We need to use our bandwidth to tackle new challenges rather than repeating the battles of yesterday. dennyheck.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/heck-statement-on-cromnibus
