Advent Devotions First Week of Advent TUESDAY, DECEMBER 2 MOWING THE LAWN Isaiah 40: 6–11 In some parts of the country, lawn mowing is a spring and summer activity. It feels good to get outside and mow a lawn after shoveling snow for months. Whether or not you have a lawn to mow, there are other tasks that take up our time, that need to be done over and over again: making beds, washing dishes, doing laundry. Life includes a series of repetitive chores that are important but can get in the way of more essential uses of our time. Isaiah reminds us that grass withers and flowers fade but one thing stands forever: the Word of God. Be sure to fit a little Bible time into your busy schedule this Advent, even if it means leaving the dishes in the sink for a few extra minutes.
