Advent at Blessed Sacrament This weekend we began the spiritual journey toward Christmas. Although the stores are filled with Christmas decorations and the sounds of Christmas is in the air, let us not forget to prepare ourselves for Christmas too. Just think of all the hours that will be spent on getting gifts, making those special cookies or deserts, traveling to various homes for Christmas parties over the next few weeks, all of which makes this time of the year so exciting and fun, but let us also take advantage of the various opportunities to prepare ourselves spiritually for Christmas. Our Advent theme this year at Blessed Sacrament is “OUR WORLD AWAITS THE SAVIOR”. It is our hope that we can wait for the Lord in a very peaceful and prayerful way and in four weeks feel his love and presence in our lives in a way we have never experienced him before. At all of the entrances you will find a small booklet with prayers from Mother Teresa that can be used each day. We ordered a small amount so first come first serve. Another practice you could do by yourself or with your family is to gather around your Advent Wreath each day and say a prayer for yourself or for your family as you light the candles at one of your daily meals. You could also attend a Mass during the early morning with fellow parishioners and give yourself a little peace and quiet to reflect on the purpose of the season before you start your busy day. The Tree of Love is also filled with gift potentials that can be bought and given to a family or person in need. Finally, but not least you can attend one of the Parish Reconciliation Services being offered throughout the city and feel the forgiveness and love of our saving Lord. Next Sunday, December 8th; 1:00 pm Immaculate Conception, 2:30 pm Nativity Monday, December 9th; 7:00 pm St. Joseph Sunday, December 15th; 1:00 pm Sacred Heart, 2:30 pm St. Michael, 4:00 pm Blessed Sacrament “Our World Awaits the Savior”—but are YOU!!!! Don’t get too busy with material things or at work and miss the Lord when he comes to your home.
