After I left the funeral home, I went to downtown Lindale. There isnt much left of the old mill, there are some beautiful old churches, and some of the old homes are still there. Tons of memories flooded back in... Dorothy & Doris (twins) showing up to my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary party wearing the same dress, that they made, in different colors. Its a twin thing... Going to maw maw & paw paws house which always seemed to have a ton of flowers and my paw paws Ford Fairlane sitting out back. The neighbors house always smelled like snuff, which, oddly, I can still smell... While maw maws always smelled like cakes baking. Tom, the Siamese cat, who was mean as a snake, but beautiful and was so smart he used the toilet and knew how to flush it! Hearing my paw paw snickering because I called him Simon... Sitting and laughing at everyones picture in the old Pepperill Mill annual. Ooh, theres some crazy looking people in there. Anyway, I plan to go back and get some pictures. Lindale will always hold a special place in my heart, just as special as Dogwood Street in Rome, where Francis lived. :)
