After Saturdays massive protests around the country you would think that water charges and Irish water would be the key issue for debate in the Dail this coming week. You would be wrong. I have Private Members time in the Dail this week and I wanted to put down a motion for debate on the water charges but I have been told I cant. This is because FF put a watery motion on these issues the week before last. This is the same FF that included water charges in the austerity programme they agreed with the Troika. The rules of the Dail say that once a matter has been raised in private members time it cannot be raised again for another 6 months!! A key issue occupying the minds of hundreds and thousands of people cannot be properly debated in the Dail! Instead I will have three minutes to raise these issues with Enda Kenny in leaders questions on Tuesday. I will be putting it to him this is your Poll Tax Enda. You have a choice, abolish the water tax or go down with it, as Maggie did with the Poll Tax. Yesterday was brilliant, I took part in the protests in Dublin 12, it was absolutely brilliant when the four marches from Drimnagh, Crumlin, Walkinstown and Greenhills converged on the Walkinstown Roundabout with over 8,000 people. Onto December the 10th. Power to the people
