After a harsh year with predators I started thinking seriously - TopicsExpress

After a harsh year with predators I started thinking seriously about another LGD to work with the maremma we already have. We expect predation to stay the same or rise in coming years and bullets arent the answer as far as were concerned. And I hate getting up in the middle of the night to deal with issues. I was also concerned our fearless maremma would get herself in trouble alone. Theres a bear the size of an import running around here right now, cougars, coyotes and now wolves. I met Andres akbash, Coby, and knew right away if I was getting another LGD, thats what I wanted. My wish came true yesterday when I picked up young Aztec from Michele Halleran in Meadow Creek. Shes an 8 month akbash maremma cross and a beautiful white and black with blue eyes. Shes a giant. We have 3 other dogs and I was concerned about a confrontation when we got home but all the dogs just sniffed each other, no hackles for growling. She just slid right in and with each passing hour shes more trusting. She figured out quickly that the sows and boar werent a threat but she was ready to have a go at a 600 pound Lilith until I called her back. Thanks Michele and Terry. Shes a real beauty. Walks beside me everywhere I go nibbling on my hand and its only a matter of time before she and Coco get into some full combat play. Coco is a bit unsure of Aztec due to her shear size. Now to clean all the barf and drool out of the back seat of my matrix. What was I thinking? Definitely a job for a pressure washer and some upholstery cleaner.
