After a sleep in and late start at 5am we finally hit the water ! The Pinnacle Crew was ready to roll, and what a morning it was.20 degrees and full of fish! Vis was not to bad either. We decided to look for bait behind backline and almost immediately came across our first school of dolphins. As the moved deeper past us we could see the Tuna jumping amongst them. A few unsuccessful cast later we decided to continue deeper. As the guys moved deeper I spotted another pod of dolphins and decided to give chase. As I got closer I slowed down and they eventually turned and started heading towards me. One cast just ahead of them with a C-Gar and I was on to a whopper! As I wad fighting this beaut I could see dhoals of bonnie and small yuna smashing bait on the sutface all around me wiyh birds diving every where. Sadly my fight came to an abrupt end 45mins after my hook up when my braid snapped under the pressure. I could have cried! But none the less I kept at it. A few minutes later my only live bait got smoked by an over excited little Hamerhead who quickly bit me off. Soon all the action passed as the birds and bait moved off and I decided to catch up with the others. Chatting with them I found out it ad been quiet out where they were with even bait bring scarce. Shane hooked up with a size hammerhead but no sign of tuna. There were about 15 other skis as wellas a few boats and jet skis, but as suspected they slowly started to thin out just before the N.E kicked in. I managed to hook a mozzie and joking around I said to the others that this gonna get my tuna as I pinned him and dropped him into the great blue. With in minutes I heard the sweet sound of a screaming reel! FISH ON!!! The fight went on for a few minutes and eventually I coaxed it up to the boat. What a beauty! Easy over 20kg Yellowfin Tuna, I reached down with the gaff and striked up sinking it in deep! The fish took off jumping in the air and managed to break the gaff. .. in the process the hook managed yo slip out his mouth an some how hooked into a small piece of flesh on his gill plate. I was now in a tug of war with a bloody injured fish that was bearly hooked and so I proceeded to spend the next 35 mins trying to convince him to come back up before the taxman claimed him. I called out to shane who kindly paddled over with another gaff so I could finally get this stunning fish into my hatch. Just as my gopro died I managed to finally gaff and boat my prize! A magnificent 22kg Yelliwfin. My heart jumped as he slid into my hatch, check mate! We decided to keep fishing for a bit but eventually at about 8:45 we saw some tuna jumping closer in shore so decided to head in with live bait in tow. At backline we packed up and headed for land aftet an amazing day on the water. Another gread day for Pinnacle Crew
