After a soaking raft ride down a white water river through miles - TopicsExpress

After a soaking raft ride down a white water river through miles of class III and IV rapids, happily screaming, followed by a hot lunch on the riverbank, it was time for a river swim. Everybody was wearing a life jacket and a helmet and was instructed in river swimming technique: keep your feet facing down river in case you ride into rocks. Hitting a rock feet first made it easier, safer, and more fun than hitting rocks head first. Thus prepared, the two teenage cousins splashed overboard for a rollicking river ride. After the raft was twenty feet down river from Amelia, she looked at her cousin, Emily, and turned to her floating dad and said, “Emily can’t swim.” “Can’t swim?!” he exclaimed. “Don’t worry,” said Amelia, “Emily can do the dog paddle.” Emily added, “I can. I’m okay.” The daddy/uncle was worried, but Emily did okay. Even though she was getting swept down a rushing river, her lifejacket did its job. It kept her head above the water and she had fun, and the boat was never very far away. Worrying is natural. The scriptures teach, “Don’t worry, and start praying. Prayer is like a life jacket — it is much better to have it on and know how to use it before you get in over your head, than it is to try to put it on while you’re getting swept downstream. Let’s Pray: Dear God, teach us to pray before we need to pray, so that when we really need to pray, we already have a clue about You. Thanks for listening to me. Amen. Here’s a Thought: Don’t worry; pray about everything. Source: Philippians 4:6 “Dont worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” NIV
