After a tiring and long flight, extended working hours welcomed me, hence late in sharing some of the life changing experiences I had during my 11 days volunteering work for AAP candidate -Maya Vishvakarma - from my constituency (Hoshangabad, MP). Each day was full of challenges and learning - we worked 16+ hours in very tough conditions with scant resources. Very proud of the ground team in Pipariya and the remote team in California for their hard work, keeping my fingers crossed for the results to be announced on 16th May. I want to share some of the incidents/lessons from these 11 days, hope all of you get benefited from them. #Realitycheckofdemocracy - When we used to go door-to-door in and around Pipariya (mercury used to touch 42+ degree Celsius which is 107+ degree Fahrenheit), many people asked us to give money along with the pamphlets and topis. Some of them tried to explained this - there is no benefit we get from these politicians, so why not utilize this golden opportunity once in few years to get some cash. Of course many of such people were from financially challenged background but even not so challenged people asked for money. This is the perception of elections people have. Who is responsible? There is a long history of politicians buying votes by offering cash of favor. Since we have been selling our votes to these politicians (and many of us who claim not for sale have stayed away from voting), they have been selling our nation (and us) for profit, hence we are where we are! एक लम्बी फ्लाइट के बाद सोमवार को जब ऑफिस पंहुचा तो भयंकर काम था, इसलिए अपने अनुभवों को साझा करने में देर हुई जो मैंने मेरे लोकसभा क्षेत्र ( होशंगाबाद , मध्य प्रदेश) से आप की उम्मीदवार - माया विष्वकर्मा- के लिए 11 दिन प्रचार कार्य करने के दौरान जुटाए। हर दिन चुनौतियों और नए अनुभवों भरा था - हम अल्प संसाधनों के साथ बहुत ही कठिन परिस्थितियों में 16 + घंटे काम करते थे| मुझे पिपरिया की स्थानीय टीम और कैलिफोर्निया की दूरस्थ टीम पर उनकी कड़ी मेहनत के लिए बहुत गर्व है। 16 मई को आने वाले परिणाम से काफी उम्मीदें हैं। उम्मीद है आप सभी को मेरे इन अनुभवों से लाभ मिलेगा। # Realitycheckofdemocracy - हम पिपरिया और आसपास के क्षेत्रों में घर घर जाकर प्रचार करते थे (पारा 42 डग्री से भी ऊपर होता था), तो कई लोग पर्चे और टोपी के साथ पैसे भी मांगते थे। कुछ का कहना था - इन नेताओं से हमे कोई लाभ नहीं है , तो वर्षों में एक बार आने वाले इस सुनहरे अवसर को गवाया जाये। इनमे से कई लोग कमजोर आर्थिक स्थिति के थे, लेकिन कई कहते कमाते हुए लोगो ने भी पैसे की उम्मीद की। आम लोग चुनाव को इस तरह देखते है, कौन जिम्मेदार है? राजनेताओं द्वारा पैसे या किसी और मदद से वोट खरीदने का एक लंबा इतिहास है। हम इन नेताओं को हमारे वोट बेचते आ रहे हैं ( और हम से कई बिकाऊ नहीं होने का दावा करकर वोट ही नहीं डालते ), और यह लोग अपने फायदे के लिए देश को बेचते आ रहे हैं, तभी तो आज देश की यह हालत है।
