After a week asleep with a breathing tube, and multiple blood transfusions, the doctors yesterday weaned my father from both the sedation and the tube, after concluding that he had not suffered another stroke from the blood loss. Removing the tube raises the possibility of aspiration, so we all prayed for dad to regain consciousness as his sister June encouraged him to wake up through a speakerphone. Our room echoed with the sounds of Beethoven and gospel music as daughter Charity rubbed his feet and hands. This morning dad showed some signs of awareness as he coughs up the the fluid in his lungs, but still has not opened his eyes. With no other issues today we look forward to having him out of the ICU tomorrow and into a regular room. Thanks for all your support thoughts and prayers.
