After looking at open enrollment in the health insurance - TopicsExpress

After looking at open enrollment in the health insurance marketplace and seeing quotes for $400 and $500 per month... I kinda feel that way... Affordable Care Act my butt! Then if a member of your household isnt enrolled you have to pay a fine?!?!?! Guess the gub-ment has to get the money for all of the Obama Phones and everything else theyre giving to the poor... What is poor defined as anyway? Is it working every day from sun-up to sun-down so you can afford rebuilt batteries and used tires for the car you depend on to get you back and forth to work. Is it defined as making decisions about which bills you can put off paying so you can clip coupons to afford to spend 200 bucks for a weeks worth of groceries? Is it wearing clothes with patches sewn into them so theyll last another season? OR Is poor defined as someone who chooses NOT to have a taxable income so they can get their EBT cards (which are accepted at nearly every liquor store, convenience store, and fast food establishment these days), that are used to pay for the 2 and 3 grocery baskets full of steaks, pork chops, country-style ribs, and multiple gallons of milk that are all given away tax free. Is poor collecting Medicaid benefits and SSI checks to pay for the extra-long fingernails, bling-bling on the sunglasses, and gold tooth grins you see while standing in line behind such poor people? As youre holding a hand-buggy with store-brand salad dressing, iceberg lettuce, two tomatoes, and maybe the 99¢ store special croutons you treat yourself to on the special occasion when you can pay with paper money instead of the usual hand-full of change we usually have left after taxes, utilities, and rent have been paid. Rent because theres certainly no way we could afford to buy a house in this economy. This country needs to take a good hard look at itself and make some better decisions before were all in such a calamity that well never be able to recover.
