After missing the last 2 shoots due to family and work commitments - TopicsExpress

After missing the last 2 shoots due to family and work commitments it was really nice to get back. Thanks to all of you who turned out and continue to support us. The only downside in having some time off is the mountain of scorecards that are left behind. These have all been entered and the score sheets are up-to-date. There were a few personal bests: 17/11/2013 – Tom Heap 33/50 01/12/2013 – Tom Heap 34/50 01/12/2013 – Michael Kane 39/50 Once again we were blessed with good weather, “Bluebird” skies and virtually no wind, don’t know how long it will be before the inevitable snow arrives. Stand 1 – A fantastic Springing Teal (with a little bit of a twist) followed by a nice Left-Right Quartering Bird on report. Great target presentation even if they weren’t the hardest of birds to hit. Stand 2 – This week we threw a fast Right-Left Looper from over the wall to the right with a great Left-Right Quartering Rabbit on report. The Looper is a bogey bird for some but I think it’s a great target and usually do quite well on them. The Rabbit wasn’t as hard as it looked (thank goodness) but still caught a good few shooters out. Stand 3 – A bit of a move about this week, a fast Right-Left Crossing Bird followed by a much slower Left-Right Quartering Bird on report. The contrasting speed and flight of these birds was designed to catch you out, many of you shot this stand well and I thought they were great value. Stand 4 – The DTL trap this week was here on 4, situated off to the left it was throwing nice clear birds which proved to be great sport. Stand 5 – The Harrier on the roof of the container provided the first of this pair, rising just above the quarry top this Driven Bird appeared over your left shoulder giving a great sight picture all the way to the end of the gully. This was followed on report by another driven; this time off the right shoulder flying in clear sky with plenty of time available. The shoot scheduled for the 29th December will be a special shoot, it will be: The Stanley Hague Memorial Shoot AKA The farmers Shoot. 29th December 2013 - Starts 12 noon The shoot will start at 12 Noon with a hog roast reception at The Hanging Gate from 3PM. The format will be a normal 50 Bird Sporting and everybody will shoot at members rates. The hanging Gate have given us permission to bring Port and Stilton so it promises to be a good do. Please put this date in your calendars and factor it into your Christmas celebrations.
