After quitting my 10 year long career working in government, I sometimes feel a bit tired with politics. I wasnt sure what to vote in the upcoming elections and I even considered not voting. Today, when cycling my 5 year old daughter to school, she asked me whos the boss in our country: Is it the King & Queen, mom?, No babe, I replied, Its us, the people. When I said this, I felt emotion grip me, realizing that I couldnt NOT vote. The right to vote so is way too precious and valuable to be discarded, even when politicians seem to be making a mess of things. I wouldnt want to teach my children to be cynical about the power of democracy. So I guess that Ill be studying electoral platforms tonight, figuring out what party I want to give my vote to.
