After the death of Joshua, the constant refrain “the Israelites - TopicsExpress

After the death of Joshua, the constant refrain “the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord” (2:11; 3:7, 12; 4:1; 6:1; 10:6; 13:1) shows Israel’s departure from its former holiness. A vicious cycle carries throughout the book:first, the people sin, provoking God’s wrath. As a result God allows their enemies to attack. The people cry out to God. God raises up a faithful and courageous judge—a military leader and counselor—to lead the people against their enemies. After victory is secured, the people sin, and the cycle begins again. God remains faithful, but sin always has consequences. (Judg Intro The A. W. Tozer Study Bible Notes - Judges)
