After three nominations, (Danny Durst, Allison Paul & Jack Riley), - TopicsExpress

After three nominations, (Danny Durst, Allison Paul & Jack Riley), myself and Superintendent Dr. Janet Wilson, took the #ALSicebucketchallenge to raise money for Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, aka Lou Gehrigs Disease), a disease of the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that control voluntary muscle movement. Not only did we have ice water dumped on us in front of the entire Garrett County teaching staff, but we also donated to support ALS research. Just as importantly, we nominate both Northern High School principal Gary Reichenbecher and Southern High School Principal Jim Maddy to take the challenge in front of the entire student body. Finally, we challenge all Garrett County Teachers to spearhead awareness and donation efforts in each of their own schools. They can choose any charitable organization they wish, but this is an excellent opportunity to not only raise money and awareness for worthy causes but to teach our students the importance of helping one another.
