After weeks of steady progress with my band, today I experienced what I would classify as a setback. Ive been feeling great about the group as a whole up to this point. Even my co-workers remarked at the improvements and those comments served to heighten my excitement, despite the handful of colorful characters dispersed amongst them that seem to dig their heels in. But today felt different. The vibe i was getting was as if they had all decided that they werent going to let me teach them. Their mood was defiant. Im no stranger to kids that present a challenge. Ive taught 7 bands that all had unique challenges to overcome. And I thought I had a decent sized bag of tricks to use because of that experience. But today showed me that I still have much to learn about this particular age group and this particular group of kids.
