Aghhhhh rant pending. Last night I gave everyone a laugh with mine and Aoifes naff attempt at making at Little Mermaid costume for a school event today, and yes I get that it was a bit shit ..... But we spent 3 hours together looking at pictures, finding materials, working out how to make it and generally bonding. Today the best outfits got to stand at the front of the school hall and shes disappointed because she wasnt chosen as I didnt buy her a nice princess dress like some of her friends. Very disappointed at the lesson my little girl learnt today, when she left home this morning bursting with pride at the results of her labour last night. Dont get me wrong, its great to buy your children nice things, we all do it - this is not aimed at parents. BUT If schools are going to pick children over each other to parade, should hard work, effort, thought and creativity not be recognised as having greater or equal value. Never thought Id miss the 80s :-(
