Air NZ are well aware of the contention, arguments, discomfort and even danger of having the seats fully reclined with the passengers behind. I have written to them before about it and it was recently plastered all over the internet. Having asked the attendant to ask the passenger, Would you mind raising your seat she declined and was effectively told Too bad The seat was sitting on my knees and every time I moved I was accused of punching the seat. A similar thing happened when anyone got out their seat to go to the toilet particularly the passenger on the window seat. Should the plane crash with the seat in the reclined position getting out in what is already a sardine can would be very difficult. The ensuing argument with the passenger and flight attendant saw a very biased and incompetent staff member. The passenger that knew she was creating a problem played the victim beautifully and I was threatened with the Federal police. As I left the plane a flight officer stood at the door with his arms crossed presumably in relation to the problem created by Air NZ. I am a 65yo pensioner with a bad back that has never been in trouble with the law. Such stupidity and incompetence from Air NZ with its Bully boy tactics was hard to believe.
