Air Quality Engineer / AQ Engineer I-II We are seeking exceptional, motivated candidates for several current vacancies in our Engineering and Compliance Unit. The vacancies may be filled at any level below: ASSISTANT AIR QUALITY ENGINEER AIR QUALITY ENGINEER I AIR QUALITY ENGINEER II The primary function of our Air Quality Engineers is the review and processing of permits to construct and permits to operate equipment, to ensure that resulting emissions comply with our rules and do not negatively affect air quality in this region. Air Quality Engineers may also be involved in auditing annual emission reports, working in the AB2588 program (emissions inventory, risk assessment, and community right-to-know about air toxic emissions), and handling equipment registration and other area source programs. Occasionally, we’ll have a vacancy in our source test engineering unit. Positions are allocated at the Air Quality Engineer II level and new staff may be hired at any level, depending on their qualifications and the needs of SCAQMD. Individuals are hired, typically, at the level of Assistant Air Quality Engineer and are eligible for consideration for promotion to each successive level upon successful performance of assigned duties for the required minimum period of time.
