Air Serbia announces opening new routes and renewal of the fleet! BELGRADE – Serbian Air Serbia, the national airline has announced on Thursday opening of new routes, increasing number of flights and renewal of the fleet. “As of October 26, Air Serbia will regularly operate to Abu Dhabi (UAE), Banja Luka (BIH), Bucharest (Romania), Ljubljana (Slovenia) and Prague (Czech Republic) from the Nikola Tesla airport,” the company said in a statement. As stated, by June 2014 Air Serbia will duplicate number of regular flights and capacity, and there will be 73,000 places of the more than 670 frequencies weekly in the offer from Belgrade to 39 destinations in 30 countries worldwide. Planned timetable has been adjusted to the achievement of better connecting of flights from Belgrade to all destinations, while the most frequent flights to Belgrade will be at 7, 13, 17 and 23h. In accordance with the interest of passengers, to most important and most frequent business destinations, Paris, Zurich and Moscow, will be flown twice a day so that passengers could return the same day from these cities to Belgrade. Director General of Air Serbia Dane Kondic said that by modernizing the national airline with aircrafts A319, expanding the transport network and adjusting the schedule, key steps are taken to create Serbian airline that passengers need. The new timetable will provide better connection to main airports in destinations to which Air Serbia flies, including air port in Abu Dhabi, from which new partners of the Serbian airline Etihad Airways and Jat Airways have regular scheduled flights to destinations in India, Africa, South-East Asia, Australia and cities in the Middle East. Air Serbia will, in cooperation with Air Berlin, offer direct flights from Berlin to Chicago. Six of eight aircrafts A319 will come this year to Air Serbia, and every aircraft will have a configuration of 128 seats in the passenger cabin – eight in new Business and 120 in Economic class. The remaining two A319 will come to Air Serbia next year. The airline is also considering to purchase two larger aircrafts Airbus A320. The second phase in the fleet renewal of Air Serbia will be purchase of new aircrafts by public tender in 2016, and planned aircraft types are: Airbus A320NEO, Boeing 737 MAX who are economically more efficient than previous types of aircrafts, but they are also far more modern by environmental standards.
