Ajimobi Lays New Olubadan Palace’s Foundation. Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi has laid the foundation for the construction of a new ultra modern palace for the Olubadan of Ibadan. Ajimobi, while performing the foundation laying ceremony of the new palace at Oke-Aremo, stressed the need for Nigerians to always value the traditional institution. He said Ibadan indigenes were unique for their rich culture, which, he said, reflected in their way of life. Ajimobi, in high spirit, said humorously that when the new palace was completed, the Olubadan would honour him with the title of ‘Koseleri of Ibadanland’ because he would have broken the second term jinx by then. He urged politicians to desist from politics of bitterness, adding that they should give room for criticisms to perform better. The governor assured that his administration would not rest on its oars in providing good governance to the people of the state. “We will continue to make available tangible, as well as intangible dividends of good governance to our people,” he said. Addressing the huge crowd at the event, the monarch, through his son, Chief Femi Lana, rendered gratitude to the Almighty for preserving his life to witness the remarkable development. He commended Governor Ajimobi and those who contributed for the project, for their efforts towards realisation of the project and urged indigenes of the town, with the financial muscle, to donate towards further completion of the project. Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of Olubadan Palace Committee, Chief Bayo Oyero, disclosed that the first phase of the palace construction, which cost was put at N400 million, would be completed in the next six months.
