Alice Hornaday update: it is Monday morning and mom is still on life support. When we arrived at the hospital on Friday she was in a catatonic state suffering from sepsis shock. Since Friday mom has turned her vitals around! Most of the infection in her blood from the sepsis has been cleaned up. Her blood pressure has stabilized and does not require medication. She is not receiving a sedation drug any longer. Her electrolyte levels have improved significantly and shes now receiving feeding tube nutrition. She has come a long way since Friday!!!! However we still have a long way to go. She is not breathing on her own at this time and we arent sure she will be able to due to the tumor in her lung from the colon cancer. They will be testing her and trying to figure out if she will be able to go through a wean process on the ventilator. She needs tons of prayers!!! When she started this process we thought she there was no hope but she turned the situation around to this point. She is very responsive, opening her eyes, holding your hands, following instructions and knows everyone in the room. I do not want to give up on her just yet while shes still fighting! Please pray for strength, direction and patience for my family and pray for hope, strength, courage and health for mom. Please come up to the hospital and see her today if you can and help her fight. The family also needs help with food, snacks and drinks for the next few days at the hospital. If you can help that will be greatly appreciated as well. Pray pray pray! God has a plan and I just wish he would lay it out for me!!! I love you all. Thanks for your continued love and support through this process!!!!
