All Anoka-Hennepin schools will be closed and programs and - TopicsExpress

All Anoka-Hennepin schools will be closed and programs and activities will be cancelled Thursday, Jan. 23, due to dangerously low temperatures and wind chills ranging from 35 to 40 below zero. Temperatures are expected to begin rising Thursday afternoon so school will resume Friday, Jan. 24. The decision to close schools for students and staff is based on the official announcement of the U.S. Weather Service, which states, “Exposed skin may freeze in as little as five to 10 minutes ... the combination of very cold air and strong winds will create dangerously low wind chill values. This will result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia or death if precautions are not taken.” Staff should not report to work; buildings will remain closed. Once again, our “digital day” calendars for elementary and middle schools will remain unchanged. For example, if Friday is digital day 2, it will remain digital day 2. Please share this message with your friends and family on Facebook so all Anoka-Hennepin families are made aware.
