All Personal Trainers are different, the one thing that they - TopicsExpress

All Personal Trainers are different, the one thing that they should have in common is an accreditted L3 PT qualification. Active IQ are our awarding body and our qualifications are internationally recognised and quality assured by Skills Active. A PT qualification is the very begining of the journey not the end and each PT will embark on their own journey, some will suceed and some wont, its a tough market place and you need to be focussed and hard working to progress and reach your potential. Keep revising anatomy and follow the latest trends to see what is happening within the industry and always consider further qualifications that will improve your status. There are many routes that you can take and you should concentrate on improving areas that you feel you are weakest in. No job is below you as a PT, if you work within a club dont shy away from cleaning machinery and tidying weights anything that gets you close to members is a sales opportunity. A client should always have blood pressure taken prior to exercise prescription, it is your duty of care to do so, anything above hypertensive stage one should be referred to their GP for exercise clearance. Always carry out a full postural analysis on your clients (NASM is a great qualification to help you with this) as this will highlight areas other than aesthetic ones that they may not realise they are weak in. No one is the perfect PT and all of us have things to learn, always be open to new approaches and make your own mind up about them, there are many opinions on everything in our industry! We are always ready to offer advice to any PT out there and we will happily try to help you to gain positions within the industry if we can, irrespective of who you took your qualification with, we are on a mission to make PTs safe and effective and to erradicate cowboys. You have paid a lot of money for your education and expertise and the public should be able to place their faith in you to produce the goods. We will be making occasional posts highlighting observations and if there are any that you would like to share then we would love to share them.
