Since we cant get our HOA/entire condo unit to tent, were using Ecola Termite services to help us with alternative methods. First and foremost...I HATE termites. Once being in the mortgage industry, I got a lot of experience seeing older homes cost thousands and thousands of $$ just to get it to basic safety standards due to termite damage. UGh. Now that Im a homeowner, I know what kind of disaster my home can be in if I just let those bugs run wild....and Im TERRIFIED! Speaking of being in the mortgage industry, thats how I knew Ecola Termite in the first place. They used to take care of our clients for termite inspections, treatments and repairs. We rarely had any problems with them and they were always very nice to our clients. So, when I first moved into our home and the hot season came around, those nasty little swarmers came out by the dozens. I seriously was vacuuming swarmers every 15 min because I couldnt stop but think how those little future kings/queens were going to spread and start their own new colonies. The inspection with Kevin was great! Super friendly and came 15 min early. He gave me my Termite treatment options and scheduled my treatment date while he was here. Fabulous! The treatment tech guy came out the next week. Again, super friendly and let me ask my annoying questions about termites and treatments for it. Haha....watching the ELECTRO GUN was the BEST PART!! its unbelievably gratifying watching every little electrical current flare whenever it came across another termite. It was surprising though. I thought we had SOME termites, but just in ONE door frame, I would say there was about 100 counting the electrical zaps. Ugh. Next they drilled holes in my walls (tiny tiny less than 5mm diameter) to insert the Bora-care foam. This stuff doesnt smell, my cat and I are still within the house, no plants have been moved, no food was moved, etc. Its supposed to be a salt compound thats used in flea collars, and hospitals. For a friend, I asked if it was okay for pregnant people to be around, and they also said yes. Apparently, this stuff is supposed to get into the walls where the termites will drag it back to other termites and spread around the compound, eventually killing off many. Quick, easy, on time (considering LA traffic). Not badly priced either! Will be using on a yearly or every other year basis.
