Allah,Love,Hope & Faith Life after death Some believe that death is the end of life. So they run after money and worldly pursuits to make maximum use of this life. In this pursuit, some end up in confusion and some in mental disorders. On the other hand, a true Muslim feels that he is guided and supported by Allah and that he has significant purpose of life. He is sure about what is wrong and what is right. He is certain about his relations, his rights and duties. And therefore, he struggles for life after death. Depending on the deeds one has done in this world, the person will receive a reward or punishment. The event of Qayamah and what will happen on that day is mentioned in Surah al-Zilzal and al-Qariya of the Holy Quran. Life is divided into two parts: transitory and eternal. The first part is the life in this world, which is called the transitory part. It is to prepare for the next life. After death comes the eternal part of life. The type of life we are going to have in the second part depends on the deeds we perform in the first part of life. Islam looks at the first part of life as preparation by man. The second part is the time when one gets reward of his conduct in the first life. Islam has made clear the purpose of life. The purpose Allah chose His Messengers to convey to mankind the purpose of life, which is to recognize Allah and spend life strictly according to His commands, without any digressions and self-made assumptions. This is the only purpose of life and success of a man. Syed Ali Hajveri, popularly known as Data Ganj Bakhsh, (a saint who lived in Lahore from 400 - 464 Hijra) quoted a companion called Haritha in his book ‘Kashful Mahjoob’, that once he went to the Holy Prophet and the Prophet asked him: ‘O Haritha, how do you start your day?’ ‘I start my day with complete faith in Allah.’ ‘How do you define it?’ Asked the Holy Prophet. ‘I have disconnected my nafs from dunya. Now for me, there is no difference between stone and gold, silver and earth. I wake up in the night and control my nafs during the day. My condition is as if I see Allah all the time. I see the people of heaven and hell and how they are living.’ sm By Ishaq Abdul Rahman
