Allah mentioned in an ayah in the Quran how we should deal with disbelievers. Allah says: “Allah does not forbid you to deal justly and kindly with those who fought not against you on account of religion and did not drive you out of your homes. Verily, Allah loves those who deal with equity”. From this ayah, we learn that we must deal justly and kindly with the majority of the human race! However, this doesn’t mean that we love the disbelievers or humiliate ourselves to them. Muslims must have honor and walk with their heads up high. We give the disbelievers gifts, we treat them with kindness and call them to Islam by our actions, honesty and good behavior. We don’t take them as allies but we don’t consider them to be enemies that must be annihilated. We coexist and live like human beings! The Prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam accepted the invitation of a Jew woman. He later discovered that the sheep she offered was poisoned in an attempt to kill him. He didn’t kill all the Jews because of her. He even visited a young Jew boy when he fell sick and called him to Islam. Our Prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam was a man of peace and attacked only those who broke their treaties with him or attacked him first.~ Assim Al Hakeem.
