Allegiance is by statute due to the sovereign. Allegiance can both - TopicsExpress

Allegiance is by statute due to the sovereign. Allegiance can both be express and implied and is by law distinguished into two sorts or species natural and local. The former is perpetual and the latter temporary.Natural allegiance is a debt of gratitude and can only be affected by the concurrence of the legislature. Local allegiance is such as is due from an alien or stranger born for so long as he continues within the sovereigns domain and protection and it ceases the moment the stranger transfers himself from the sovereign .Allegiance is therefore the debt that a subject owes the sovereign on the implied term that the latter affords protection and the subject will demean himself faithfully .The allegiance of an alien is confined to the duration of his residence in the realm
