Allentown Police Department is threatening arrest for anyone who attend the 4/17 rally sponsored by the Lehigh Valley IWW. This is despite the fact that it will be on public property and small in number, like every other demonstration weve ever had. About an hour ago I received a threatening call from a captain in the Allentown Police Department. I was told that we would all be arrested for having the rally 4/17, even if we take it to a public sidewalk. I explained to him that as long as the expectation is under 30 people, its protected by the 1st amendment. He didnt seem to accept that and claimed that the city solicitor did not, either, regardless of their previous encounters with the ACLU. Ive already emailed/called the ACLU and NLG in Philadelphia, as well as the General Defense Committee of the IWW. via: Lehigh Valley IWW
