Almost all churches and organizations have statements of faith on their websites. If you boil them down they essentially all say the same thing - our beliefs are mainstream and not weird. I dont see the point. A statement of faith is cheap. Anyone can write anything and put it on a website. It doesnt mean your people believe it. Im more interested in your statement of passion. What youre passionate about tells me what you *really* believe. The people in your organization either have it, or they dont. If they have it, you cant hide it. Its what they live, breathe, eat for breakfast, cant stop talking about. And if they dont have it...yeah. Im more interested in your statement of action. I dont care what you say you believe. I want to know what youre doing. Because thats what you *really* believe. And a statement of action isnt something you write - what youre doing *is* the statement. All that to say, dont bother writing a statement of faith. Youll just attract deadweights who want something safe, something status quo, something not weird. Instead, identify what youre really passionate about, and throw gas on that fire. Clarify what youre called to do, and throw yourself into doing that. Go a little crazy with it, the right people will come, and youll never have another boring day in your life. Thats my statement of faith on statements of faith.
