Almost one and a half years back, full bench of the Chief Information Commission had ruled that the six national political parties, should be designated as ‘public authorities’ and were brought under the RTI Act. But not a single national party has complied with this order till now. On Wednesday, there was a full bench hearing of the CIC on their continued non-compliance but shockingly neither any party representative attended the hearing nor any of the parties challenged the June 2013 ruling. It is a first in the history of CIC that it is facing with complete and continued defiance of its orders that too from the supposed Law-makers of the country! When it comes to audacity to defy CIC orders the two major national parties BJP and Congress stand united!
