Alone in the dark I stand. Waves of despair toss me around. Battered and bruised, I try to push to the surface. Guilt and regret pull me unrelenting, deeper into the darkness. I see your face, I hear your voice. I try to swim to you but never get close. Exhaustion, frustration, and loneliness weight heavily on me. I sink further and further into the darkness, lost and alone. I see a light of hope. Stumbling and falling as the light slowly fades. Will I reach it in time? I call out yet you do not hear me. I am here, lost and alone in the darkness as the last glimpse of light disappears, sealing me in the perpetual darkness. Regret and guilt close in on me. Grief and despair overcome me. Alone in the darkness, with no heart left to break, no hope to chase, no promises to break, no dreams to shatter. Alone in the darkness I feel safe. Alone in the darkness I find a new peace, a new comfort. ~Written by me
