Alright guys, Im requesting a bit of tech help with my 89 Shelby Daytona Last summer I bought my Daytona from Illinois with a blown head gasket which sounded probable from the misfire and smoke the car had when my dad and I picked it up, long story short the old engine was blown up when I got it and I bought a new shortblock and got a new head from a fellow over on turbododge. The block is a Dakota truck block with Wiseco pistons, K-1 rods and whatnot, it all went together pretty good and runs halfway decent. Problem 1 is as follows - when the car gets up to operating temperature I experience a loss in oil pressure, cold oil pressure is typically good but as the temp gauge rises the oil pressure falls, I thought this was an electrical fluke initially but a mechanical oil pressure gauge confirmed the issue. I regrettably didnt plastiguage the bearings or even check the torques when I put it together (was in a time crunch) so Im not sure if that is an issue or if it could be in the top end since it does have a decent sized oil leak somewhere on the passenger side of the block The shortblock was not fired before I bought it if that makes even the slightest difference. Problem 2 - lack of boost, I believe the turbo is junk on it (stock mitsu that was rebuilt by Chrysler as the tag on it states) but Im not sure if my dad or myself messed up something in the vacuum lines, but the car peaks at 5psi of boost, and gets 17 or so in/Hg of vacuum when decelerating, 15in or so at idle (maybe somebody in the Indianapolis area can help me fiddle with that) Problem 3 - Transmission - my car is an automatic and shifted perfectly fine up until I parked it during the extreme cold snap we had here in January, it sat parked buried in snow for Id guess a week give or take, since that it doesnt much care to shift from 3 to 2 or 1 when you come to a stop and it acts like its slipping until you stab the throttle to kick it down, I did manual shift it up until I noticed the shift cable stretching (as shown by losing my ability to use park! haha) Sorry if that was long winded but I figure the more details I can give the better! Thanks in advance if you guys could help me figure this stuff out, I love how the car handles compared to all of the other stuff Ive driven, its just a matter of getting the speed and acceleration up to par!
