Alright guys. So Kurt Carothers is going to be buying the 1MZ VVTI - TopicsExpress

Alright guys. So Kurt Carothers is going to be buying the 1MZ VVTI cams off me and he heard from some people that they will not fit. You guys are right, but also wrong because they do fit as long as you get them out of a earlier version of the 1MZ w/ vvti. The early versions of the VVT-i 1MZ used a dual throttle body, cast aluminum intake manifold, and EGR block off plates. Later versions used a drive-by-wire/electronic throttle control and also changed the intake manifold to plastic. The cams out of the later version will not fit a regular 1MZ. That is most likely what most of you were thinking, but I had some insight on this engine from a guy that knows a lot about them, and is ultimately why I picked them up in the first place; because they will fit the non vvti engine. However, the only difference between the two cams is that there are 3 studs on the vvti one compared to the single stud on the non vvti and the duration of the vvti ones is slightly longer. I tested fitted the vvti cams into the non vvti head and they fit perfectly fine.
