Alright yall, I have an adventure story for you! I work with this super quiet and super sweet lady named Niki. Everyone was eating boring bratwurst at the hotel for dinner but Niki and I werent having it. We let folks know we were headed out and asked if anyone wanted to join. No? Alrighty, adventure awaits! We punched Old Alexandria in wazer (gps) and off we went. We drove through quaint little neighborhoods, past old buildings, and enjoyed the lights on them all. After a couple blocks of this must be it and is this a spot, we found a parking garage and pulled in. The first thing we noticed was the American Legion and a couple of shops across the street. We wandered past City Hall and down a street full of beautiful lights and cute littke shops. After wandering into some shops and peering into others, hunger set in. While I checked out an American Shop (everything had Old Glory emblazened on it), Niki scoped out the menus. We decided on an Italian restaurant. The food was so good (my minestrone and Nikis dinner were rather amazing)! After our bellies were full, we wandered a bit more. Niki picked up a magazine about the area. As we walked down the street she rolled it up and quietly stated, I feel like the Borne Identity...make a weapon out of anything. I had to promise no pics or she wouldve used that thing on me. We giggled our way down the street and wandered into a couple more stores. I found the gum Niki wanted and a charger I needed at CVS then it was off to the car. Our adventure had to come to an end.....or did it? As we rounded the corner to where we thought the garage was and didnt see it, we grew concerned. As a bit of fear crept up, I noticed the American Legion sign and all was well. We chattered as we walked toward the garage until we noticed the doors were closed...CLOSED...like, locked up for the night, see ya mañana, sorry sucka, CLOSED!!!! I checked the phone to make sure I had battery to call for help if need be and saw I had received a text from one of our team members. I replied to stand by as we may need to initiate a rescue mission. Mind you, both Niki and I are having phone issues and may have dead batteries at any moment. We stood there half giggling half imagining all crazy scenarios and noticed a phone number on the sign. I called and got the tinny-voiced recording stating the office is closed. We look up to see one of the doors open and a car drive out. We look at each other with relief and I not-so-calmly state, Niki run! Dont get hit, but run! We boot scoot it inside before the door closes. As we stand there giggling like crazy, Niki asks how we will get out. I confidently figure the same way the other car did. Yet, as I expressed this thought, doubt set in and the giggling increased. We peeked around to see if anyone was still working (no) then got in the car. I have to stop for a moment and mention something for those of you that dont know Niki and I well. We both have wild imaginations. The people in our office are fond of conversations about zombies, ghosts, and such. Having said that, our imaginations were taking over and we were giggling like loons! So, back to the car...we get in and head to the exit. There is a credit card pay station...WOO HOO!!!!!! I pay and start to move forward but had placed the car in park. Afraid to miss our window to escape under the raised arm-thing, I quickly put it in gear and moved forward...but the door was still closed. No longer giggling, we were full on belly laughing as I inched toward the door. Miraculously, it opened. I was so excited I burned a little rubber getting out of there. Safely outside, we stop to laugh hysterically, take pictures for prosperity, let our officer know we are safe, and gps the hotel. We found several hotel with the same name and picked what we hoped was the right one. As we drove back, Niki checked her mascara to make sure it wasnt all over her face. We giggled about scenarios such as our boss getting a call to pick us up from jail (beacuse we were coo-coo). During this conversation, Niki admits she secretly wants to be in a brawl like in the movies. You know, smash a chair or bottle over someones head. We discussed scenarios such as getting in the garage and getting locked in, reaching through the cracks in the gate at passers-by for help, and how I would owe the other driver big time for taking folks to the airport at 0500 for me because we had to leave the car overnight. We were laughing so hard, we were afraid someone driving by would think we were drunk. Dont worry, we only had water with dinner and coffee with dessert. We were still laughing pretty hard as we pulled into the hotel parking lot. Niki had to check her make-up so no-one would think she had been crying (or brawling) and I checked to see if our teammate had responded (no). Then another giggle fest started up about how we wouldve had to borrow a phone, call Kristi, and have her call the hotel had our phones been dead. I know Im missing some good parts but I think you get the gist. Such a fun night!!!! #loveourcrazyadventures #neveradullmoment #whatdidshejustsay
