Although I apologize for what sounds like rants about the schools - TopicsExpress

Although I apologize for what sounds like rants about the schools and our children, I will not apologize for my posts against this corporate movement to hijack the minds and bodies of our precious children, who are inundated daily with advertisements and powerful marketing forces outside of the schools in an effort to create new markets and new consumers. However, these very same, insidious forces have now made their way into the classroom, which was once a relatively safe haven from those who want to exploit children for data and money. We have become compliant as parents, teachers, and the community at large for allowing this to happen. We have elected officials who are in the pockets of big business in an alliance that wants to destroy the neighborhood school--look at New Orleans, Philadelphia, and any other big cities with issues of poverty and see how unsuccessful charter schools really are. Unless we begin to fight back, the schools as we know them will become nothing more than marketing data centers to collect information for new consumers who cannot think critically and who will lose touch with the vast storehouse of knowledge collected by humanity over the millennia.
