Although hes talking about the dismal state of jazz appreciation leading to less work and record sales for jazz musicians, this piece has general applicability for anything remotely artistic. Public tastes and desire for progress in the arts overall have been declining exponentially and it will only get worse, and theres no saving it as far as progressive minded artists making a living at it. That professional aspect of the arts is going to be extinct, and Im glad to be learning another trade soon.
