Although this article has nothing to do with fitness I think it is a good read for people wanting to change the way they look or their performance (or their job). All the tools that you need to make a positive change are at CrossFit White Bear. You can keep looking for the right fitness program - you know the one that you workout 3 times a week for one hour with minimal effort and eat what you want and dont care about how much you sleep or what your stress level is like. Or you can look to a program that will test your mental and physical limitations, has accountability (sign up for class, show up early, stay late and work on accessory work), has a community of like minded individuals to be supportive in all realms of fitness. I know this post is a bit long (and probably has a fair share of grammatical errors) but I would like to share a story of two men who came into our facility. Man 1: He was overweight and had never worked out and did not agree with our approach to nutrition as a manageable healthy diet. We went back and forth on a variety of issues from science to personal when I finally said give it a try for 1 month and if it didnt work then go back to what you were doing before. He not only tried it, he gave it his all. After that month he had lost 50lbs and got stronger and faster. Man 2: He comes in to try out a free workout. As always I ask what your goals are. He says to get ripped and I answer with we have all the tools here to get you ripped. I told him that if that was his goal there was no magic pill (my favorite thing to say) and that the unlimited package was going to be what he needed. He told me that he was frugal because he isnt working and cant find a job he likes and so doesnt like to spend that much on fitness. Okay moving on, how about 3x a week and running is free why dont you do that 3-4 times a week. His response was I hate running. Okay so you are cheap and lazy, maybe you will eat right. I explained the Paleo diet and how it really is the best for cleansing the system and losing weight. This man began to tell me how he could never take out bread or diary. We were about 15 minutes into the complementary workout when I stopped him and said this place isnt for you. Although it might not been my place I told him the reasons I though he was overweight and broke. I said you have no commitment and only excuses, your broke because you nobody wants to hire someone with his attitude. I said he was overweight because he thought his mouth was a reward system and that he would rather spend his days sitting on the coach rather than going to a job that might not be perfect but pays the bill and gym that will test his physical capacity. In life if you want something, grab the Fing bull by the horns and get it! Maybe you are not sure if CrossFit is the right program for you but until you give it your all, how do you know? - Jake thechive/2014/04/30/mike-rowes-brilliant-response-to-a-mans-request-to-help-find-him-the-perfect-job-7-photos/
