Alumni Update #10 - Brandon Caron, Class of 2008 Since leaving the Trekkers office I have moved to Johnson, Vermont where I am studying Outdoor Education with a concentration in Adventure Leadership at Johnson State College. Recent coursework has included a backpacking trip on the Worcester Mountain Range, snowshoeing on sections the Long Trail and certification as a Wilderness First Responder. I currently work at Laraway Youth and Services as a community support mentor. Laraway works with Vermont’s Department of Children and Families to help youth learn, heal and grow. I was drawn to the work at Laraway because of the emphasis put on relationship building. My years at Trekkers showed me the importance of positive relationships and just how much greatness can be achieved when someone feels supported. It has become the foundation for the work that I do. As for the future? Well, Trekkers always taught me to live in the moment, but some things I see myself doing after graduation include lots of travel, spending time in the outdoors, starting a little farm and getting my bus drivers license. Until then, Ill just keep on trekkin!
