Always try to help, not because you expect a reward in this life - TopicsExpress

Always try to help, not because you expect a reward in this life or the next, but because it makes life better. Better for them, better for you, and if we all did just a little, and kept paying it forward, imagine how much better this world would be. True story, at one point in my life I was living in a tiny two bedroom apartment with my now ex husband and 5 other guys, and things were more than tight. We could cover the rent, barely and mostly we could eat, but all of us were making diddly. Just at the end of a really bad month, with an empty fridge and not even 10 bucks between us and at least a week before anyone got paid, magic happened. No, we didnt win money or find it, but we came home and there was a huge box of eggs in the fridge, with several large boxes of butter, flour, huge cans of fruit and a few other things. We had no idea where it came from, but it kept all 7 of us reasonably well-fed for a couple weeks. Not so much a miracle, as it was a good friend, who, when the coffee place he worked for decided to no longer bake their own stuff in house, and were going to just toss the food, thought of us, and snagged it before it got tossed. He dropped by, dragged it all in and put it all away and then snuck off without expecting thanks or praise. Pay it forward. Not for reward, or to show off, but because it makes the world nicer, for all of us. (Thanks Aaron. I dont know if you knew just how much it helped us out, but it did.)
