Am I wrong when I want to believe that the majority of social media is a pile of superficial shit? Like for example, posting life quotes on pictures and statuses, plans for self improvement, checking in at the gym for the purpose of impressing someone else or gathering the support of your friends through a like button. The sad part about that is, it creates a false persona promoting perfection on social media.. and some of the people that fit the above criteria fail to commit to whatever they claim to be or want to be and In the end, when you fail, itll contradict everything you posted about, like for example, Hey guys Im gonna quit smoking, love me.. 2 weeks later, picks up smoking again, or HEY I WORK OUT, IM GONNA GET BIG AND RIPPED NOW 2 months later, still looks the same or gains 10 pounds of fat.. Not trying to be an asshole or sound like a sociopath but whatever happened to doing things for you? Or whatever happened to the element of surprise? Why not use a private blog for self improvement plans or try bringing up these subjects in person with your closest friends? Oh right.. theres no satisfaction from the amount of likes you would probably receive as moral support on your next status or tweet. Im not perfect and Im guilty of the above, like most, but lately, Its really annoying to see people use social media this way and fail to commit to themselves, especially when you get to watch them fail in front of you. No one is perfect, everyone is a work In progress and life happens, but doing the above and failing only makes you look weak. Pretty sure it does more harm to your self esteem than good.
