Am going to try and give a trial report. The wifi at the hotel - TopicsExpress

Am going to try and give a trial report. The wifi at the hotel has very poor signal strength and its a battle of hours to try and read email and even load up FB! The hotel is nice tho, just the wifi leaves lots to be desired. Very full trial. Even with 2 judges going all day long we didnt finish until after 6 pm. Not looking forward to the long drive home if the trial doesnt end sooner on sunday. LOTS of nice dogs. I think about 50% of the dogs in the catalog already have their HCs, even tho they may be in Int or Started as their handlers try new things. HC BCs, ACDs, Aussies, Corgis and GSDs. One Briard in trial, and one Samoyed in PT (did well). Also some Rotties. I was worried about the C sheep as when I arrived on Wed they were NOT working well. Turns out they hadnt been worked since May b/c the dog working them had finished her HC. I worked hard retraining theem Wed/Thurs and it seemed to have paid off by today. They were a different flock today. Still not easy, but much improved! The other C competitor was VERY happy with my efforts and said shed never before seen the sheep NOT race down the traffic road! Anyway--all 3 dogs qualified well. This finished Junos 2nd HXCsM. Maya wouldve won (had the ni cest work and was the first dog to run) but apparently we were supposed to enter the graze about 20 feet further down the side than where I entered (I didnt hear that in the meeting) and so lost 3 points which cost her 1st place and 2 championship points as well....Oh well. The judge (Dana MacKenzie) told us afterwards that the 4 C runs were the nicest and most consistent ones shed ever seen. Our other C competitor was Carol Wolfram and her HXC Briard. Juno and Lana both did very well on the cattle. Were some of the very few started dogs to make it thru the entire run. Both had decent scores (in the 70s) but were NQd on the 50% rule on the outrun, Lana only by 1/2 point. I was told the judge (Craig Watson) is VERY strict/tough. Only 2/12 dogs qualified in our class. Maya went on to WIN the Int. A sheep class under Craig Watson and got some great compliments on how quietly she handled the sheep. I dont know that shes really ready, but will move her to Adv A sheep tomorrow and see what happens. Maya said sheep only and wouldnt look at the A ducks. However both Juno and Lana humored me in B ducks (started) liking the open field more. Juno ended up winning the class of 4 dogs (and finished his HSBd title), Lana got 3rd. Will move Juno to Int B ducks tomorrow. Juno ended up High Scoring GSD in trial. It was nice they had breed award ribbons! And my back started twinging halfway thru the day---cant straighten up well--hope its better tomorrow. But thats it for today! 2 new titles, cant complain and the GSDs are making a great impression on everyone!
