Am gonna share this because i think it will resonate. My mother is a retired doctor (72) who has fought against injustice all her life. I have not spoken to her since the 18th. I did tell her that a NO vote was immoral .... My olive branch to her: Hi mum, bbc/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-29432379 So your friend(Gordon Brown) who promised a solem vow under the state broadcaster Auntie Beeb (completely disgusted by their coverage and will never pay a license again), seems to be struggling with his promise to the scottish people. Meanwhile we seem to have found ourselveves in another illegal/unwinable WAR in Iraq and the tories have sold off the the central belt to fracking companies, which will poison the drinking water. A lot happens in a week in politics. I hope your generation are happy for shafting the rest of us ! PS. I do still love you.Hope u will admit you were wrong. Off to Mexico next week. Her response to me : Sorry that I disappoint you David, but I am very glad that you still love me despite letting you down at the ballot. Three quarters of people my age voted no, so my caution is not unique. There was a big part of me would have liked to have bvoted yes.....but we were brought up during the war remember, and the post-war period is still very much in my memory, when the whole UK pulled together. We are one small island. I also believe that Scotland is a great country and it has my full loyalty. Like many, I want devo-max. and the Scots will make sure that we get it. I hate the idea of bombing Iraq (and any bombing or making war). I believe that it will make things worse. The next UK election will be very interesting. Remember that, if it had been a clear yes vote, nothing would have happened for 2 years. So we would still be bombing Iraq. How long are you in Mexico for? Is anything happening at your house? I had some lovely eating apples from your garden (picked a month ago). I think I gave you and Angie the tree. Love, Mum (she never gave me a tree)
