Amapondo Backpacker Lodge are proud to have been nominated as finalists in the Lilizela Tourism Awards. The provincial awards ceremony was held on the 9th September in Port Elizabeth, and Amapondo Backpacker Lodge received four finalist certificates as well as winning one provincial award for Best Culture and Lifestyle. Amapondo Backpacker Lodge has also been invited to attend the National Award in Johannesburg next month as finalists, and hopefully to collect their South African National Award. The Lilizela Tourism Awards are the premier tourism award programme for tourism businesses in South Africa that aim to reward and celebrate excellence across the tourism industry. Lilizela is an Nguni word which means to ululate: a uniquely African act of congratulations when someone has done something well. Lilizela is a name that truly distinguishes these uniquely African awards from the mainstream. These Awards recognise and reward tourism players and businesses who work passionately and with pride to deliver a world class product and service and whose delivery grows South Africa’s global destination competitiveness.
