Amazon AutoRip When you buy an AutoRip-eligible CD or vinyl - TopicsExpress

Amazon AutoRip When you buy an AutoRip-eligible CD or vinyl record from Amazon they are now giving us a digital copy for free. Fire up your web browser on your laptop or download the Amazon Cloud Player app to your phone or tablet and then sign in and you’ll see all the albums you’ve ever purchased from Amazon ready to play, well at least all those Amazon has licensed, which is any album marked AutoRip. The player also allows you to up load songs the free version has space for 250 songs whilst the paid for version which costs £21.99 a year and has space for 250,000 songs and those AutoRip albums don’t count against those totals. The Amazon Cloud Player is nothing special but performs well and has most of the feature you’d expect! If you’re an iPhone and/or Mac user then iTunes Match makes sense otherwise Amazon offers a tempting solution albeit with one caveat and that’s if like me you’ve a large collection of music then Amazon has the only “cloud” option, which begs the question when is Apple going to up it’s game? iTunes Match only allows for 25,000 songs! Of course there’s one massive downside to storing your music in the “cloud” as long as you’ve a data connection everything’s fine, but if you haven’t, then unless you’ve stored your music locally as well, you’ll be listening to the “Sound of Silence” pun intended!
